Ingredients
  

For the Apple Fries
  • 2 large large apples (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith) Choose firm apples for the best texture.
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour Can substitute with gluten-free flour.
  • 1 large egg Beaten.
  • 2 tablespoons milk Any type of milk works.
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs Gives a crunchier texture.
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar Can adjust based on preference.
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon Can adjust or omit per taste.
  • as needed Nonstick cooking spray To achieve a golden-brown finish.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Peel the apples if desired and cut them into fry-like sticks. Pat them dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
  2. Set up three coating stations: one with flour, one with whisked egg and milk, and one with a mixture of panko breadcrumbs, sugar, and cinnamon.
Coating and Cooking
  1. Dredge each apple stick in flour, dip into the egg mixture, and then coat thoroughly with the breadcrumb mixture.
  2. Lightly spray the coated apple fries with nonstick spray, and place them in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook in batches if necessary.
  3. Air fry at 380°F (190°C) for 7-9 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through.
  4. Once golden and crispy, remove from air fryer and serve warm.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. Reheat in the air fryer for a few minutes to regain crispiness.
