Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the melted butter and sugar until well combined.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract, stirring until smooth.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. If desired, fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart.
Baking
  1. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set.
  2. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
