Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup white rice or Jasmine rice Can use any preferred type of rice.
  • 2 cups water Can use broth for added flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 medium bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • to taste chopped green onions for garnish Optional but recommended.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  3. Add chopped onion and bell pepper, sauté until softened.
  4. Stir in the garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  5. Add the rinsed rice, water, salt, black pepper, paprika, and thyme. Stir to combine.
Cooking
  1. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 18-20 minutes or until rice is tender and water is absorbed.
  2. Fluff with a fork and garnish with green onions if desired.
